These wireless ear pods are designed for easy disassembly to allow for upgrades and repairs as part of a Product Service System. The long 'pop' on earbud sleeve is also a protective casing that is simple to remove. 

The ear pods are rented as part of a scheme. if something breaks or the customer wants to upgrade to a newer version, the pods can be sent back in their carry case and modularly repaired, or the new parts can be sent out to the customer.
